Can a locksmith program my existing key fob?

Reprogramming an existing fob (after a battery change or sync loss) often takes 5–15 minutes and costs less than a dealer visit.

Adding a spare fob to an existing key set is simpler than all-keys-lost programming because the system already trusts your current key. Bring both keys to the appointment.

If a fob is lost, ask the locksmith to delete it from the system — that prevents anyone who finds it from starting your car. This takes a couple of extra minutes and is worth doing every time.
